HCDBM is looking for Certified Forklift Drivers to help unload trucks from the San Antonio Food Bank.  Volunteers would be helping with unloading of much needed product for our families. Once unloaded, product needs to be weighed in and placing in HCDBM warehouse inventory. Requirements: Certified Forklift Drivers will need proof of certification. Able to lift 50lbs.  Closed toed shoes are mandatory for working in warehouse.

HCDBM needing help with sorting of fruit and vegetable produce for our families.  Most food banks only do canned goods, rice, beans and pasta but at HCDBM we do all that plus fruits, vegetables and meat.  So to give our families the best quality fruits and vegetables we must hand sort them.

This program allows local non-profits to request food and product from HCDBM and items are provided them free of charge from our warehouse. Certified Forklift Drivers will need to show proof of certification.  Closed toed shoes are mandatory to work in warehouse. Must be able to lift 50lbs.

Providing clothing to our clients helps them fight the cycle of poverty. We receive excess clothing weekly from Plato's Closet. Volunteers are needed to pick up what they donate and bring it to our warehouse. You can use your own vehicle or one of our trucks. We will provide all necessary training.

Volunteer Requirements:

HCDBM welcomes Solventum to serve those in the Texas Hill Country who are in poverty and crisis.  Volunteers will be sorting food, bagging food, sorting clothing, or preparing orders. Our mission is to help alleviate poverty in the Texas Hill Country and we couldn't do it without volunteers like you.

HCDBM welcomes Boerne High School Spanish National Honor Society and National Honor Society at BHS to a serve night from 5-7pm.   Friday Night Distribution is an opportunity for volunteers to serve our families first hand. We will be the hands and feet serving them by taking their care boxes to their car and making sure they are doing well.  We will have a case manager on site if any of our families have any special needs that might arise. 

We are so grateful for our wonderful volunteer who share their time and talents with the ministry.

HCDBM is looking for Certified Forklift Drivers to help unload Operation Blessing Trucks the 1st & 3rd Monday of the month.  Operation Blessing trucks need to be unloaded, the product weighed in, and then placed in HCDBM warehouse inventory.  Volunteers need proof of forklift certification and must be able to lift 50lbs.  Closed toed shoes are mandatory to work in the warehouse.

Join HCDBM as we fight poverty in the Hill Country. We are a food and clothing bank for 8 Hill Country counties and volunteers like you help us achieve our mission. Please wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate clothing as our warehouse is not climate controlled. 

YMSL Opportunities:

Friday Night Distribution: Help us load food into our client's cars as they drive up. We ask that you visit with the client and offer to pray with them. 

Warehouse: We need help sorting food, bagging food, organizing clothing, and prepping food for distribution. 

Join us for our October Clothing Event! Volunteers will greet clients as they arrive, assist with the sign in process, answer basic questions, and help ensure a smooth and welcoming start to their shopping experience.

This opportunity is for 4 volunteers and we would like 2/4 to be Spanish speaking.

Join us for our October Clothing Event! Volunteers will assist clients at the checkout area by bagging their items after they finish shopping and placing the bags into the clients' cars. 

This opportunity is for 8 volunteers and we would like 2/8 to be Spanish speaking.

Join us for our October Clothing Event! Two volunteers will help clients weigh their carts and 1 volunteer will accurately record the weights in an Excel spreadsheet. 

Join us for our October Clothing Event! Volunteers will help organize, restock, and display houseware items.

Join us for our October Clothing Event! Two volunteers will assist clients by providing carts when they arrive and 6 volunteers will ensure the carts are returned.

HCDBM Welcomes Champion High School FACS class for a serve day.  We look forward to having you out to serve our families who are in poverty and crisis.  

HCDBM welcomes USAA for their Serve Day.   We look forward to having USAA join us again to serve Hill Country families affected by poverty and crisis.  We will begin with a tour of the ministry and then complete a group project. HCDBM cannot fulfill our mission without volunteers and donors like you. Volunteers will help load carts with each component in the Thanksgiving box. No one under 18 is permitted in the cooler or freezer). Once everything is loaded, volunteers will leave cart by the bay door. 

Volunteers will help direct cars in an orderly fashion through box pick up in our parking lot. Must be ok working outside. 

HCDBM is blessed to own multiple vehicles and it is crucial to our ministry to keep them up and running. Fleet Maintenance involves checking oil, checking tire pressure, fueling up, and general upkeep of the vehicles, This job can be done individually or with a small group. We are flexible with the day and time, please let us know in the comments when you would like to come in and we will be in touch. Work will be done outside so we recommend a hat and sunscreen. Closed-toe shoes are required in our warehouse. Snacks and water are provided. 

HCDBM is a busy place and our warehouse sees a lot of action. Help us fulfull our mission by keeping it clean and safe. This volunteer opportunity involves sweeping our warehouse floor and then riding the Viper machine to clean the floor. You will be taught how to operate this machine. We are flexible on what day this can be done but require the volunteer shift to be in the afternoon from either 1-3 p.m. or 2-4 p.m.
